8 Week Intro to Clay
We will teach you clay basics starting with wheel throwing and hand-building techniques all the way through to glazing. This comprehensive course takes place over eight weeks, plenty of time to familiarize yourself with the world of clay. Let yourself be challenged to try something new in this discovery process.
Scraffito Circle
Join us for a wonderful afternoon of pottery, creativity, and socializing! Bring a snack to share—wine and beverages will be provided by RVPS. Each participant will be provided a 15” oval platter with handles to carve. Come with a few design ideas in mind.
Wednesday Skillz Class- Thrown Bowl Modifications
Thrown Bowl Modifications will teach you all sorts of approaches for rims, shapes and funky directions to take your bowls outside of the typical spheric shape. Frank has plans to create some great rims transformations!

Wednesday Skillz Class- Funky Feet, Trimming a foot
This class is going to give you some great new directions with creating a foot on your pieces that are outside the box and ask you to start thinking about making your feet unique and different.
Push Clay with Tea Duong
Tea has a remarkable ability to break complex forming methods into simple, approachable steps, helping students transform small forms into larger, more ambitious ceramic pieces.
Wednesday Skillz Class- Bubble Glazing
It’s an odd thing to bring your childhood play of blowing bubbles in the milk into a glazing technique. However with bubble glazing, creating these soft circular effects of textured bubbles is a great effect to elevate any glazed piece. Come learn the tricks!
Raku Class
We'll discuss clay bodies, how to minimize cracking, and the key elements that make a successful raku piece. Then you'll put your new knowledge into practice by glazing your own bisque-fired vase before experiencing the thrill of pulling it from the kiln and completing the reduction process.
Wednesday Skillz Class- leave your mark: making a chop
Creating a chop, a small carved stamp to have that personal makers mark. A signature to only you! We’ll introduce three different techniques. Chops will be fired for pickup later.
First Friday Art Walk: Community Raku Firing
Everyone is welcome to join us for our community raku firing! Whether you'd like to participate with your own work or simply watch the process, it's a great opportunity to experience the excitement of raku and connect with fellow ceramic artists.
Wednesday Skillz Class- Throwing off the Hump
To throw off the hump is not for the faint of heart but it is fairly simple. Frank will help with troubleshooting some real issues such as “S” cracks and centering large amount of clay in a very manageable way. Come away with your own shippikis!
Wednesday Skillz Class- Making a Traditional Tea Bowl
There is no better way to warm yourself on a cold day than with a good cup of tea. From a good cup, you make yourself. Learn to make yourself a wheel-thrown and trimmed winter tea bowl (Winter Chawan) and it’s accompanying whisk (Chasen) holder. We might just enjoy some tea while we do it.

Skillz Night -A Good Spout
Our Wednesday Night Skillz class give potters a chance to strengthen your pottery techniques. It’s set up to have that one on one time with Frank who will help guide you through the process of what makes a good spout and give you solid feedback to what’s working and what’s not.
Chia Pet Pottery Class
We will be building our own chia pets representing the ancient civilization of 1970’s. If you’ve lived through a few 80’s commercials, you will forever have the ear worm song of chia pets living in your brain. Such a silly time capsule and something fun to create for yourself.

Monster Kids Camp!
Get ready for a monstrously fun three-day kids camp where imagination runs wild! In this creative clay camp, each participant will design and build their very own monster family from scratch.
Charcuterie Board Class
Join us for a unique, hands-on workshop that brings together the art of food and the joy of making. In this interactive class, each participant will craft their own custom ceramic charcuterie board—designed with their personal grazing style in mind.
Mosaic Workshop: Building Tile Mosaics
This multi-day workshop is all about building a mosaic from start to finish. You’ll begin by making your own tile pieces, then move through the process of shaping, texturing, glazing, and finally bringing everything together into one finished piece.

Fairy House Kids Camp
Our instructor, Tina, will guide students step-by-step as they learn how to cut out windows and doors, add decorative flowers, and build charming details that give their fairy house a unique personality.

Platter Etching Class -Advanced Scraffito
Designed for those ready to refine their skills, this small-group class centers on carving and surface design. Each participant will receive a 14” platter with foot rings, prepped for glaze and etching. Julie will demonstrate how timing and technique come together to create beautifully clean, expressive lines.
4 Week Intro to Clay
Explore essential hand-building techniques, immerse yourself in the magical world of ceramics and have fun in this 4 week introductory class. Frank will guide you from construction through glazing, from idea generation to completion. You will go home with work that just might get you hooked.
Put a Lid On It: A Lidded Vessel Workshop
Creating a sturdy lid that rests perfectly on a vessel is every potter's goal, yet achieving it can be a challenge. You will throw a wide range of styles, from basic sugar jars to deep fermentation crocks and everything in between.
May Raku Firing
For Ashland’s First Friday Art Walk we’ll be participating with our monthly raku firing! Everyone is welcome to come watch but if you have a piece you’d like to have fired, please register for the event.
Flower Press Kids Class
Kids come with their favorite plant and flower collection to press into the recycled clay. We will also provide plants to press as well. Your kids will explore the different textures and shapes left by the plant pressings.

This class is designed to help build glaze confidence and supply you with the understanding to take your finish to the next level. You will learn how to get the most out of your glazes and set yourself up for success with glaze choices.

A Simple Clay Pot
Coil building a terracotta pot is an age old process that will bring you back to your roots and give you a sense of timelessness. We’ll be using a low-fire terracotta clay to handbuild our pots with coils and from there buff it out for finish and paint decorative design on the outside to really give it that ownership.

We want to get all our potter friends together and create a space to enjoy each others company, talk shop and find other potters who can laugh at your handle pulling jokes.
Family Valentine’s Day Class
Come with your kiddo and capture a moment in time with hand prints. You’ll be trancing hands and building a little bowl of love between a kiddo and the adult they lean on.

Basics of Mold Making for Slip Casting
Taking the fear out of mixing plaster and creating your own unique design!
Join us to find out in a hands-on two day workshop! We will make plaster molds of fruit and vegetables as “patterns”, resulting in functional “slip casting molds”.
