  • Rogue Valley Pottery Supply 300 East Hersey Street Ashland, OR, 97520 United States (map)

Cost: 85

Hosted by: the Studio Side & The Miners’ Bazaar

Instructor: Julie of Mizzle Ceramics & Rosie of The Miners’ Bazzar

This Class is hosted jointly by Julie Furrer owner of Rogue Valley Potter Supply in Ashland and Rosie Taylor owner of The Miners' Bazaar in Jacksonville. This class is open for adults 17 and up.

The ancient process of Egyptian Faience is a ceramic bead that is brightly colored with cobalts blues and coppers, which make vibrant greens. Sometimes referred to as Egyptian Paste, it has a self glazing effect because salts from the paste come to the surface as it dries and create an outer shell. After firing the dried clay paste, these little decorations glow with vibrant natural pigments ready to be joined together in a piece of jewelry made by you for you or someone you love. If you've worked with clay before, be prepared to have your mind blown because this is a fast drying but fun whole new experience.

The first class on June 28th we'll be at Rogue Valley Pottery in Ashland. You'll experience this ancient process by working the ceramic paste from puddle to moldable clay. Once it begins to dry you'll create intricate little beads and pendants. If you've worked with clay before, be prepared to have your mind blown because this is a fast drying but fun whole new experience.

The second class two weeks later on July 12th, we’ll meet at The Miners' Bazaar in Jacksonville. We'll be assembling our beads and pendants into bracelets and/or necklaces to adorn you as the Egyptians of old did while adding our own flair with a few semi precious stone beads, metal beads and chain or leather to bring these pieces together.

This is a class Rosie and Julie are so excited to collaborate on together. We’re two women owned businesses supporting each other and wanting to share our spaces with you. We hope you’ll join us!

Cancellations 15 days or more prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund minus a 5% processing fee. Cancellations up to 7 days prior will receive 50% back.
